Plumbing is done! Next up...a concrete pour...

The plumbing is in and the PWSA has inspected the work. We are ever so slowly moving ahead. The weather has cooperated over the last couple weeks - Thanks Mother Nature - however, it seems like not much has been happening. We took a drive to the site on June 26th and ran into Kurt. We also ran into a guy that was removing dirt from the site. We didn't catch his name but he told us one of the guys laying the concrete foundation blocks actually lived on the site of our new house many years ago. I thought that was pretty cool. I wonder how long ago because there was really nothing on this site when we first saw it. Carl, who lives one block down, told us he has lived in Deutschtown for 40 years. He also mentioned the woman one block down from him has been there way longer than him! It will be interesting to get to know the neighbors and get the scoop on the area from days gone by. Beyond the plumbing, a short retaining wall was built (by two guys, one block at a time!) behind the furthest two townhouses. Concrete block was built up behind the units as well.
We were informed that our parking area will be raised up and there will be no barrier at the
end! We have been tossing around the idea of putting in a bike rack and I think this new info has persuaded us to install one. We need something visual to prevent us from driving off the
concrete...I know I will be the first one to do that. We want to purchase one of the Three Rivers bike racks that are popping up all over the city but they are almost $600! I wonder if any business purchased too many and may be looking to unload one?? Maybe I will try Craigslist.
We were checking out other options at bike-phg.org. They have partnered with dero
.com so there are many more economical options.
The coolest thing we have seen so far was the great rendition of what our house and the other town homes will look like upon completion. Jeff was so excited about seeing it and so was I. It gives us a really good idea of the whole picture now. Of course, we will add beautiful plants around the front and have gorgeous grasses and flowers growing on the rooftop deck. It is so fun to daydream about what it will look like on the outside and inside. Kurt told us we have about 2 months to go before we have to order anything for the inside...I don't want to wish my
summer away so for now I will just get lost in a daydream...
